The adenoid, otherwise called a pharyngeal tonsil or nasopharyngeal tonsil, is the prevalent a large portion of the tonsils. It is a mass of lymphatic tissue situated behind the nasal pit, in the top of the nasopharynx, where the nose mixes into the throat. In youngsters, it regularly frames a delicate hill in the rooftop and back mass of the nasopharynx, simply above and behind the uvula. The adenoid, in contrast to the palatine tonsils, has pseudostratified epithelium. The adenoids are a piece of the alleged Waldeyer ring of lymphoid tissue which incorporates the palatine tonsils and the lingual tonsils.
