Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are veins that have come to be enlarged and twisted. The term generally refers to the veins at the leg, even though varicose veins can occur elsewhere. Veins have pairs of leaflet valves to prevent blood from flowing backwards (retrograde float or venous reflux). Leg muscle tissue pump the veins to go back blood to the heart (the skeletal-muscle pump), in opposition to the outcomes of gravity. When veins emerge as varicose, the leaflets of the valves now not meet properly, and the valves do no longer work (valvular incompetence). This lets in blood to flow backwards and they expand even more. Varicose veins are most commonplace within the superficial veins of the legs, which are challenge to high pressure when standing. Besides being a beauty problem, varicose veins can be painful, particularly when standing.
