Aplastic Anemia
Aplastic Anaemia is an exceptional disease wherein the bone marrow and the hematopoietic stem cells that live there are damaged. This causes a deficiency of all three blood cell types (pancytopenia): red blood cells (anaemia), white blood cells (leukopenia), and platelets (thrombocytopenia). Aplastic refers to lack of ability of the stem cells to generate mature blood cells. It is more frequent in humans in their teens and twenties but is also common in elders. It can be because of heredity, immune disease, or exposure to chemicals, drugs, or radiation. Symptoms of Aplastic Anaemia consists of Fatigue, Shortness of breath, Rapid or abnormal heart rate, Pale skin, Frequent or extended infections, Easy bruising, Nosebleeds and bleeding gums, Prolonged bleeding from cuts.
